Many people who have moles think about mole removal for aesthetic reasons. This is especially true of people who have moles in visible places, such as on their face, hands or arms. The skin cancer, melanoma, develop through existing moles, or form new moles, and need to be removed to avoid the cancer spreading. This is another reason why people seek mole removal. So, in case you hadn’t noticed, this article is about skin mole removal. If you have a problem with moles in your garden, try somewhere else.

Mole Removal Surgery

Surgical mole removal occurs by two methods. These are excision and cauterization. For facial mole removal, depending on the size of the mole, cauterization is more common, as the skin isn’t as deep as other parts of the body. However, if there is a big mole, that is likely to also be deep, excision is the most likely method. Excision is when the surgeon (usually a specialist dermatologist) cuts the mole out and then uses stitches so the body heals over the wound. Whether the doctor uses stitches or not depends on the depth of the cut. It is up to a doctor to decide which method should be used once he has thoroughly examined the area. Choosing a experienced and careful doctor will help remove the chances of having a mole removal scar left behind.

Laser Mole Removal

Many people are interested in the removal of moles using lasers. Laser mole removal is not so common. Lasers would only really be effective in very shallow moles, as the laser wouldn’t be deep enough to affect deep down in the skin, where most moles have their roots. Many people look to this method in an attempt to avoid mole removal scars, however the use of lasers for mole removal is not very common, for the reason mentioned previously. The reason for the misconception that laser mole removal is in fact more common than it is, might be that people confuse cauterization with lasers.

Other Ways to Remove Moles

There are alternatives to mole removal surgery. You can get cream that are sold over the internet that allegedly produce amazing results, however it is unknown if these reports are real or are simply hype. Some of these creams are touted as natural mole removal, however they are made from chemicals.

Conclusions

If you need cosmetic mole removal there are a few different options to try. However if you are after face mole removal, or as treatment for a potentially cancerous mole, you should definately go with dermatology mole removal. Follow your dermatologist’s recommendations; depending on his assessment of your skin moles, he’ll either prescribe you a cream or want to perform a surgical procedure.
