Acne pills have long been prescribed by dermatologists when patients come in complaining about acne. But, are they right for you? There are a few questions you should ask yourself, such as: Are acne medication pills bad for the body? Have I tried all the other options first? Are acne pills actually effective at treating acne? First we’ll discuss whether oral acne pills are safe to take, or are detrimental to the body.

Accutane / Roaccutane: is it worth it?

The most common acne pill treatment is isotretinoin, which is marketed under many different brands, the most famous being Accutane and Roaccutane. This medication was initially used as a contraceptive, so isotretinoin products are commonly known to people as acne birth control pills. Of course if you are wanting to get pregnant, you should immediately disregard these types of acne treatments pills. However, if you are happy with the benefit of birth control in your acne medication, you should consider other the potential health risks associated with these types of pills for acne treatment.

There are many known adverse reactions to taking isoterinoin. These include nose bleeds, dry skin, itchy skin, headaches, eye irritation, fatigue and hair loss. These acne pills, whilst improving acne in some patients, are also known to worsen acne in some instances. Other very serious adverse affects that have been linked to the use of the ‘acne birth control pill’ are depression, birth defects and Chron’s Disease. People have filed lawsuits (and won) alleging isotretinoin was responsible for causing their clinical depression. There have also been lawsuits claiming these pills were responsible for giving them Chron’s Disease, with some manufacturers forced to pay out many millions of dollars in compensation. Whilst women who get pregnant while on the medication (even though it is supposed to be a birth control pill) have had miscarriages, or worse, have given birth to deformed babies.

Antibiotics Acne Treatment

Another pill for acne treatment is oral antibiotics. Antibiotic acne treatments have been criticized for not being effective enough. The body builds up resistance to the antibiotics, rendering them ineffective, and acne usually returns a few weeks after the sufferer stops taking the pills. Acne antibiotic treatment also has the side affects of yellowing teeth, and interference with the healthy bacterias in the gut.

Hormonal Acne Treatment

Hormonal acne treatments used when it is believed hormones are the cause of the acne. Many people object to this treatment, as it messes around with the hormones in the body in an unnatural way. There is a common belief that you should only use hormonal treatment if you are producing hormones in an unbalanced and unhealthy manner; they should not be manipulated as a means of acne treatment, as this unnatural hormonal manipulation could have adverse affects on the body.

Alternatives Treatments to Acne Pills

The alternative to acne pills is to treat the acne in a natural way, or to use topical treatments that have a lesser impact on the body, and therefore cause less harm through side affects. To cure acne the most natural way you should eat a healthy diet. This means no junk food, and limited to no animal products. Your diet should be high in vegetables, fruits, legumes and nuts, for healthy functionality and skin.

If you feel you need to use a product to treat acne, opt for acne cream or gel over pills. The only way the medication can affect the body directly is through the skin, rather than pills which are digested and can cause a multitude of problems internally.

Conclusions

In conclusion, you should always try alternative treatments first before using pills for acne treatment. Even then, you should consider whether the health risks are worth the possible (there are no guarantees) improvement in your acne. Work your way up from the most healthy and natural remedies for acne, slowly progressing onto topical treatments, like acne creams and gels, before even considering taking pills as an acne remedy.

Many people suffer from the affliction of having pimples. Pimples are basically caused by pores in the skin getting blocked, usually by a combination of sweat, dirt, and dead skin. For this reason they usually occur in areas on the body that have larger pores, get dirty easily, and are prone to getting sweaty. The most commonly affected areas for both men and women are the face and back, and for men also the chest, as chest hairs capture the sweat and dirt, increasing the chances of pimple occurrence. Pimples can, however, occur anywhere on the body where skin pores can get blocked. The most hated area, and also the most targeted area of pimple breakouts, is the face. This article will focus on getting rid of pimples in the facial area, although many of the principles apply to the whole body.

So, how to get rid of pimples? The best way to be pimple-free is through prevention, however, once pimples have invaded, there are some treatments and methods that can be used to quickly get rid of the pimples. One such treatment is the use of an over-the-counter pimple treatment cream. Oily skin provides great conditions for pimples to thrive, so these pimple treatment creams are effective in drying out the pimple using chemicals, so that the body can heal it. Because this treatment costs money, is chemical based, and is only a quick fix, as it treats the symptoms rather than the cause, it should not be preferred to (or at least be used in conjunction with) preventative measures and natural pimple treatments.

You may be wondering how to get rid of pimples naturally? The best ways of defeating pimples is through diet and hygiene. In almost every instance of preventable health problems they are diet related, and pimples and acne are no different. So unless your diet is already extremely healthy and/or your acne is hormonally related (such as adolescence), an improved diet will without doubt help prevent pimples.

The biggest dietary culprit in causing pimples is dairy. Many conclusive studies have linked dairy products to an increase in pimples. It is thought that dairy products increase the sebum content in your body, which acts as a glue by sticking the dead skin and dirt to the pores, causing pimples and white-heads. This will be due to the large amount of hormones, especially estrogen, found in milk because the cows are consistently impregnated, which inflates their hormone levels. Drinking milk from another species is weird and cruel, and no other mammal apart from humans do it. Aside from causing pimples, cow’s milk is bad for human health in other ways too, and should be avoided as part of a healthy diet.

Good foods to eat to reduce pimples and have a healthy body are fruits and vegetables. These easily digested and are rich in vitamins that keep the skin healthy. Whilst certain parts of the diet are hard to directly associate with decreasing pimples, a healthy body certainly gets less pimples than an unhealthy one, so a good diet is vital in gaining a healthy body. A healthy diet should be plant-based and include fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds, and grains, whilst containing little, but preferably none, dairy and meat products.

Exercising greater hygiene practices will also help in treating and preventing pimples. Washing your face with ‘pore-cleansing’ soap every morning will help in removing the dead skin and dirt from the pores. Also showering at night before bed will stop sweat on the body from drying overnight and blocking up pores. A shower before bed will also keep the sheets cleaner, meaning less dirt and sweat that you lie in that can cause pimples. Good times to wash your face include morning and night, and when your face is particularly hot or sweaty, such as after exercise. This is because when you are hot, your pores expand which means, coupled with the presence of sweat, dirt is more easily caught in them. If you wear makeup, it is especially important to wash your face before and after so that no dirt is rubbed into the pores, which is then blocked by the makeup.

Many people want to know how to get rid of pimples overnight. Whilst defeating pimples overnight might seem a bit ambitious, pimples certainly can get beaten within a couple of days, if you treat your body correctly through diet and hygiene, and apply quick-fix anti-pimple cream. So if you are desperately searcing how to get rid of pimples fast, the techniques mentioned in this article should definately be able to help.

RealHealthWorld.com does not endorse the use of ‘heavy’ drugs, such as Roaccutane and other ‘acne pills’, for the treatment of pimples or acne. Drugs like Roaccutane are known to have side affects, such as depression and fatigue, amongst others, and the big problem with drugs like these is that they treat the symptom not the cause. From a macro viewpoint of the human body, pimples are a symptom of poor skin care or bodily health and hygiene. The cause of the problem is what should be treated, such as improving the diet or cleansliness, rather than ignoring the problem and using powerful drugs, that make demands on other parts of the body, to treat a symptom. Topical pimple treatments are fine as a short-term measure, as they have limited affect on the body and are effective enough in helping treat pimples.

Please note that if you are going through puberty, your hormone levels will be all over the place with the amount of growth and adjusting the human body must go through in this stage of development. Therefore, pimples are often a natural by-product of puberty due to hormones. However, having a good diet, hygiene practices and using anti-pimple cream are great ways to manage acne and pimples, if not eliminate them entirely.
