The Price of Liposuction

without comments

Whenever the subject of liposuction comes up, one of the inevitable first questions that arise is how much does the procedure cost.  Personally, we feel that asking this question may be a little premature, due to the fact that there are numerous variables which affect the final cost.

However, before we begin our discussion on these variables, let’s answer upfront in terms of a general price range.  Usually, liposuction should cost somewhere between fifteen hundred dollars and eighteen thousand dollars (you can see why liposuction financing is so popular).  At this point, we are confident that you feel this information is relatively useless.   However, if you continue to read on, you will see why it is impossible to give you a more definitive number.

Whenever someone begins quoting you liposuction prices, you should ask them what the quote entails.  The quote should list, by line item, the surgeon’s fees, the anesthesiologist’s fees, the fees for the operating facility, as well as the fees for pain medication and pre and post operative diagnosis tests.

Now that you know what should be included in the quote, let’s examine three factors that affect the total liposuction cost.

The first factor is the body part that is being operated on.  If the area to be operated on permits for easy extraction of fat (such as the stomach), it will be cheaper.  On the other hand, if your require liposuction on a difficult body part (such as the chin), you can expect to pay a higher price.

The next factor is the surgeon’s experience.  A good analogy is going to the hair salon.  You will pay more for a more experienced hair dresser than you will for a novice hair dresser.   You can expect the same principle to apply to liposuction surgeons.

The third factor which will affect the liposuction price is the patient’s gender.  While it may be surprising, male liposuction actually costs more than female liposuction.  This is due to the fact that a man’s fat deposits are more difficult to remove than a woman’s fat deposits.

Now that you have seen three of the factors that determine how much liposuction will cost, we are confident that you understand why we can’t give a definitive answer to the question of liposuction prices.
